# Getting started

## Step-by-step guide

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Create an account on Roach Racing Club

Go to <https://beta.roachracingclub.com> and click Sign-Up

When you click “Sign-Up”, you’ll be prompted to log in using your AGW (Abstract Global Wallet).

If you don’t have one yet, you can sign in using your email or any non-custodial wallet (Metamask, Rainbow, etc.). In this case, during your first session, your own AGW wallet will be created automatically.

Read more about AGW [here](https://docs.abs.xyz/).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Claim Your Roach

Every new player starts with one free garage slot.\
On your first login, you’ll be prompted to unlock this slot and claim your first Roach.

Your first Roach is generated randomly — its name, appearance, assigned cryptocurrency (BTC, LTC, ETH) and mood are all created automatically.

As you progress through the game, you can unlock additional Roaches and customize them by discovering new traits, opening new cryptocurrencies, and upgrading their stats. Read more about traits [here](/gameplay/roach-management/basics).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Start Racing

Racing is the core gameplay loop of Roach Racing Club.\
Once you claim your first Roach, you’re ready to jump into your first race.

You can choose between several race types, but we recommend starting with Arcade to learn the mechanics and practice. Read more about race types [here](/gameplay/race-types).

In every race, you compete against other players. Your goal is to predict the live crypto chart to boost your Roach’s speed and aim for the top positions.\
\
At the end of each race, you’ll receive rewards based on your performance.\
Learn more about gameplay mechanics and rewards [here](/gameplay/race-types).\
\
After each race (except Pro Races) you need to recharge your Roach.&#x20;
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### How to Earn?

RRC offers several earning paths:

* XPR (main progression metric) — earned from races, daily rewards, items, badges, and more. Read about it [here](/gameplay/xpr-reward-system).&#x20;
* TRAX (USDC) — earned in Pro Races, where players wager their TRAX and compete with each other.
* MTGN — soft in-game currency earned from missions, drops, and rewards
* Partner tokens (e.g., $YGG) — during seasonal campaigns
* Abstract XP — earned through gameplay & Lootbox holding

You can also complete Quests, participate in tournaments, and unlock Badges for extra rewards.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Top-Up your Account

TRAX is the in-game stable token tied to USDC.&#x20;

1 TRAX = 0.07 USDC

You can top up TRAX and withdraw USDC from your game profile at any time at the same rate.

To add TRAX/USDC, you first need to top up your AGW (Abstract Global Wallet) with USDC on the Abstract Network.

More info on how to bridge USDC to your Abstract wallet [here](https://docs.abs.xyz/tooling/bridges).

After you got USDC in your wallet:

1. Click the TRAX icon in the top menu and select Top-up.
2. Choose the amount you want to add to your account.
3. Click Approve — a pop-up will appear asking you to authorise the operation (sign the transaction).
4. After approval, click Buy — your USDC will be converted into TRAX within a few seconds.
   {% endstep %}
   {% endstepper %}

# XPR Reward System

XPR is the main progression metric in Roach Racing Club. It determines your long-term rewards, access to special features, and status across the Roach ecosystem. Every race, decision, and interaction contributes to your XPR growth.

XPR is calculated weekly and distributed every Friday. You can check how much XPR you earned for the current week in your profile.

#### You earn XPR for the following actions:

* Participation in Pro Races
* Winning Arcade Races (with an active Reactor, read more about Reactor [here](/gameplay/roach-management/nft-reactor-and-cell-system))
* Daily Rewards (with an active Reactor)
* Instant Recharges
* Unlocking new Roaches
* Using items: Roach Reroll / Asset Reroll
* Claiming on-chain Badges
* Purchasing MTGN
* Holding an NFT Lootbox grants a 20% XPR bonus to all eligible in-game activities.

Each player competes for the XPR pool depending on their battery tier.&#x20;

More about Reactor and Battery Cells [here](/gameplay/roach-management/nft-reactor-and-cell-system).

#### Abstract XP&#x20;

Abstract XP is an incentive and engagement system created by [Abstract](https://docs.abs.xyz/overview), the chain Roach Racing Club is deployed on.

Users can earn XP on Abstract through various activities such as using apps, trading, minting, holding assets, and more. The exact calculation method is not public, and the weight-based allocations change dynamically each week.

There are two primary ways to maximize your Abstract XP gains:

* Play & earn XPR – your in-game XPR contributes to your weekly XP on Abstract
* Hold a Roach Racing Club Lootbox to boost your Abstract XP gains

# Racing

PvP racing powered by trading

Roach Racing Club delivers one of the most dynamic and strategy-driven experiences in GameFi – blending player skill, timing, and a touch of luck.

Players control their roaches in real time and compete head-to-head, accelerating by executing virtual trades on a real price market chart.\
\
The objective is simple: outsmart your opponents with better predictions, better timing, and better risk management.

Victory goes to the coach who reads the market best, times their boosts correctly, and crosses the finish line first.

During the race players compete using the [Boost system](/gameplay/racing/boost-system), while [Roach Mood](/gameplay/roach-management/roach-mood) and [Aerodynamics](/gameplay/racing/aerodynamics) may also affect roach performance and race outcome.

# Aerodynamics

Roach positioning on the racetrack affects race performance.

**How Aerodynamics Works**

* A running roach creates an air flow behind it
* This cuts air resistance for roaches behind it, giving them a small speed boost.
* The closer a roach is behind another, the stronger Drafting effect (similar to real-world racing)
* Players can use this effect strategically to win races&#x20;

**Strategic Implications**

The aerodynamics system creates interesting race dynamics where trailing closely behind another roach can provide a speed advantage. This encourages strategic positioning during races and can lead to exciting come-from-behind victories.

**Leading Position**

The leading roach faces full air resistance and doesn't benefit from drafting. However, in certain modes, the race leader collects rewards placed along the track.\
\
**Trailing Position**

Trailing roaches benefit from reduced air resistance, allowing them to conserve energy and potentially overtake the leader at strategic moments. The optimal trailing distance is close enough to benefit from drafting but not so close as to be blocked by the leading roach.

This mechanic creates interesting race dynamics where trailing closely behind another roach can provide a speed advantage, similar to drafting in real-world racing.

# Boost system

The Boost System is RRC’s signature gamified trading mechanic that lets players influence their roach’s speed by predicting real-time price movements of crypto assets.\
\
It rewards skillful decision-making: the more accurately you predict the chart, the stronger your boost. But holding a position too long risks the market reversing — turning your boost negative.

**How Boost Works**

1. You see a live chart of your roach’s assigned cryptocurrency (BTC, ETH, DOGE, etc.).
2. Predict price movement by pressing UP or DOWN — this opens a position.
3. While the position is open:
4. If the price moves in your predicted direction → you gain positive boost (acceleration).
5. If the price moves against your prediction → you gain a negative boost (slowdown).
6. The farther the price moves from your entry point, the stronger the boost multiplier becomes.
7. You can close the position at any time before the round ends.
8. Closing with positive boost → your roach accelerates for several seconds.
9. Closing with negative boost → your roach slows down proportionally.

**Gameplay Dilemma**

Being in an open position with negative boost slows down the roach, creating a strategic dilemma: close now and get an even bigger slowdown but then re-enter the trade, or endure and hope for a change in the asset's price movement.

**Bullish/Bearish Mood**

Every roach is born with an assigned Mood, shown as an arrow on the roach’s cryptocurrency asset icon. Mood influences every race by giving a small passive boost or slowdown depending on the asset market movement. Read more about it [here](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JmmcxVGS4RdcGWd6h5SBDmoMnuDCXSGItn75FDhMN0I/edit?tab=t.2nvag54vk88d#heading=h.quqe668og52t).

# Race Types

Races are launched when enough players join. For each race type there is an ongoing queue of participants and when enough players join the race starts and the next one starts to fill up and so on. When the race starts players have 30 seconds to prepare before the racing starts.

**Race Types**

There are different racing types available in the game.

Roach Racing Club features three main race types: Arcade, Advanced and Pro races. Each offers a different experience and reward structure, catering to both casual players and competitive racers.

| **Race type** | **Entry fee**           | **Rewards**                                    |
| ------------- | ----------------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| Arcade        | Full Roach Energy       | <p>MTGN</p><p>XPR (with an active Reactor)</p> |
| Advanced      | 500 MTGN + Roach Energy | <p>MTGN<br>XPR</p>                             |
| Pro           | TRAX                    | <p>TRAX<br>MTGN<br>XPR</p>                     |

There are several racetracks available in Roach Racing Club, each designed to deliver the most immersive 3D experience possible. Tracks are selected randomly when a race begins — however, their distance never changes based on visuals.

Track length depends only on the race mode (Arcade, Advanced, Pro Race), not on the track’s appearance.

# Arcade

Perfect for beginners

Arcade is the basic race type available to all players. \
\
Participation is free but requires full [Roach Energy](/gameplay/roach-management/roach-energy-system), winners are rewarded in MTGN and additionally in XPR in case they have an active Reactor.

In arcade races, up to 10 roaches compete against each other. Each race consists of 5 rounds, and roaches use energy to participate.

**Arcade Race Logic**

* When a roach first joins a race, it appears transparent during the current round, indicating it's warming up.
* The roach will fully participate in the next round.
* Each roach has enough energy for 5 rounds.
* When a roach runs out of energy, it's eliminated from the race.
* Other roaches with remaining energy continue to the next round.
* This creates a dynamic where new roaches constantly replace older ones on the track.

**Rewards**

Arcade Race rewards depend on two factors:

1\. How much Energy your roach spends per round \[Energy Level]\
2\. The number of participants in the race\
\
So basically, the higher your roach’s Energy Level (total max energy), the more MTGN it earns per race. Read more about Roach Upgrades [here](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JmmcxVGS4RdcGWd6h5SBDmoMnuDCXSGItn75FDhMN0I/edit?tab=t.2nvag54vk88d#heading=h.4ftjxuw72uru).

| **Place** | **1-3 Players** | **4-6 Players** | **7-10 Players** |
| --------- | --------------- | --------------- | ---------------- |
| 1st       | 3x              | 4x              | 6x               |
| 2nd       | -               | 2x              | 3x               |
| 3rd       | -               | -               | 1x               |

**Reward Formula**

`MTGN Reward = (Energy Spent per Race) × (Placement Multiplier)`

**Example**\
If there are 8 participants in a race and the player finishes 2nd, they receive a 3× multiplier.

With Energy Upgrade Level 1, a roach has 100 total energy and spends 20 energy per race.

So the reward is: 3 × 20 MTGN = 60 MTGN

# Advanced

Races with MTGN entry fee and prize pool distribution

**Advanced Race Logic**

In Advanced races players enter to compete for the prize pool in MTGN.&#x20;

Participation in Advanced races requires an entry fee of 500 MTGN and Roach Energy.

Advanced races use a linear track with a single round.

**Prize Distribution**

The prize pool in MTGN is distributed among the top finishers based on the number of participants:

| **Place** | **2-3 Players** | **4-6 Players** | **7-10 Players** |
| --------- | --------------- | --------------- | ---------------- |
| 1st       | 90%             | 60%             | 50%              |
| 2nd       | -               | 30%             | 25%              |
| 3rd       | -               | -               | 15%              |

# Pro Races

Premium races with TRAX entry fees and prize pools

Pro races are premium races that require an entry fee in TRAX. 90% of the entry fees go into the prize pool, which is distributed among the winners. There are two types of Pro races:

* Pro Shrimp: Entry fee 25 TRAX
* Pro Dolphin: Entry fee 250 TRAX

**Pro Race Logic**

* Pro races use a linear track with a single round
* Energy is not consumed during Pro races, but roaches must be charged to participate
* Once the minimum number of participants join, a timer starts
* New players can join until the timer ends or 10 participants are reached
* Players have 30 seconds to load the track

**Prize Distribution**

The prize pool is distributed among the top finishers based on the number of participants. The distribution is the same for both Pro Shrimp and Pro Dolphin races:

| **Place** | **2-3 Players** | **4-6 Players** | **7-10 Players** |
| --------- | --------------- | --------------- | ---------------- |
| 1st       | 90%             | 60%             | 50%              |
| 2nd       | -               | 30%             | 25%              |
| 3rd       | -               | -               | 15%              |

**MTGN Rewards**

* MTGN coins are scattered throughout the track
* The leading Roach collects coins from its lane and adjacent lanes
* Each roach can collect MTGN from 3 lanes total
* Collected MTGN is awarded to the player regardless of their final position

# Roach Management

# Basics

Roaches are in-game virtual characters that players own and manage to participate in races. There are 4 main attributes that determine every roach - asset, mood, energy, tier. Additionally there are 6 visual traits that determine a roach's appearance.

**Roach Attributes:**

* Asset (Cryptocurrency): Each roach is tied to a specific cryptocurrency (BTC, ETH, DOGE, XRP, PENGU, etc.)
* Mood (UP/DOWN attribute): Each roach is either Bullish (UP) or Bearish (DOWN) which determines how it reacts to price movements
* Energy: Roaches have energy that is consumed during races (100 energy by default, enough for 5 rounds)
* Tier: Slot number determines the Roach’s tier, higher tiers unlock new body parts, colors, and cryptocurrencies

**Visual traits represent the biology of roaches body parts and their rarity:**

* Antennae
* Eyes
* Mouth
* Head
* Body
* Wings

Every roach is visually unique, as each visual trait set can be represented in only one roach.\
\
Roach's Visual traits and Asset are randomly assigned at birth and can be Rerolled also to randomly new ones.

Players start the game with one random roach (BTC, LTC or ETH). You can check Roach Traits and their rarity in the “Biology” section.

Players later will be able to mint their roaches as NFT tokens.<br>

# Slot System

Players can own up to 6 roaches in Roach Racing Club. For each new Roach, players need to purchase a slot and then the Roach itself.&#x20;

Each subsequent slot and roach is one tier higher than the previous one. Higher tier Roaches unlock new body parts, colors, and cryptocurrencies.

Each slot contains a generator that produces energy for charging Roaches. Having multiple slots (and thus multiple generators) speeds up the charging process.

**Roach Tiers**

| **Slot/Tier** | **Slot Cost (TRAX)** | **Roach Cost (MTGN)** |
| ------------- | -------------------- | --------------------- |
| 1             | 0                    | 0                     |
| 2             | 10                   | 1,000                 |
| 3             | 25                   | 5,000                 |
| 4             | 100                  | 25,000                |
| 5             | 300                  | 100,000               |
| 6             | 1,000                | 250,000               |

**Benefits of Multiple Slots**

1. Faster Charging

Each slot contains a generator that produces 50 energy per hour. Having multiple slots (generators) speeds up the charging process:

* 1 generator: 1 roach charges in 2 hours
* 2 generators: 1 roach charges in 1 hour
* 3 generators: 1 roach charges in 40 minutes

If multiple roaches are charging simultaneously, they share the charging speed.

2. Roach Variety

Having multiple roaches allows players to:

* Race with roaches of different Moods (Bullish or Bearish) that match current market conditions
* Choose roaches linked to different cryptocurrencies based on their preferred volatility
* Enter more races without waiting for recharge
* Unlock higher-tier roaches with unique visuals and traits

**Roach Asset**

Each roach is born tied to a specific cryptocurrency asset such as BTC, ETH, XRP, etc. This determines what crypto chart will be used to control the roach during the race.

Roaches of higher Tiers have more cryptocurrency options to be assigned at birth or upon Reroll:

* 1st slot – $BTC, $ETH, $LTC
* 2nd slot – $XRP, $BNB, $TRX + previous
* 3rd slot – $SOL, $ADA, $POL + previous
* 4th slot – $TON, $LINK, $DOT + previous
* 5th slot – $HYPE, $PENGU, $WIF + previous
* 6th slot – $TRUMP, $PEPE, $DOGE + previous

# Roach Mood

How asset price movements affect roach performance

Every Roach is born with an assigned Mood, shown as an arrow on the roach’s cryptocurrency icon. Mood can be Bullish (arrow up) or Bearish (arrow down) How Mood Affects Races\
\
Mood influences every race by giving a small passive boost or slowdown depending on market movement. Read more about it here (hyperlink)\
\
If the chart of your roach’s asset is going UP during the race:\
– Bullish roaches receive a small passive speed boost (even without opening trades)\
– Bearish roaches receive a slight passive slowdown\
\
If the chart of your roach’s asset is going DOWN during the race:\
– Bearish roaches receive a small passive boost\
– Bullish roaches get a slight slowdown\
\
This effect is minor but noticeable over multiple races.\
\
**Long-Term Balance**\
Mood creates short-term variability in race dynamics, but over a full round the system remains balanced by biology. \
\
This means:\
\- Mood may give temporary advantages or disadvantages\
\- All roaches have equal long-term racing potential overall\
\- Mood affects how a roach performs in specific market conditions, not its overall power.\
\
**Changing Your Roach’s Mood**&#x20;

If you want to modify your roach’s biology (including Mood), you can use a Reroll.\
Read more about Rerolls [here](/gameplay/roach-management/roach-reroll).

# Roach Reroll

Players have the option to change roach asset and appearance to randomly new ones. Rerolling means that the new random asset or set of visual traits will be assigned to the existing roach.

There are 2 options available: reroll just the asset or reroll roach fully.

**Reroll Asset**

Rerolling an asset and Mood generates a new randomized configuration without altering the roach’s visual traits. The new asset is selected based on the roach’s current tier: higher tiers unlock broader cryptocurrency options, expanding the potential outcome of each reroll.

Reroll Asset requires 30 TRAX or you can use Asset Dice item from Shop.

**Reroll Roach**

Reroll for random new asset and appearance. It is still the same roach – name and all upgrades will remain. Reroll Roach is 60 TRAX.

# Roach Energy System

Each slot has a generator that produces energy, while each roach has a battery to store it. When putting a roach on charge it starts accumulating the energy from the generators. Generators in slots work altogether and contribute to total energy output for all roaches, meaning that charging 1 roach while having 2 slot generators will be two times faster than with 1 slot.

Energy limit - the battery capacity of the roach, it determines the amount of MTGN rewards in Arcade races. The basic default is 100 Energy.&#x20;

Energy gain - the generator energy output, it determines the energy production speed, default is 50 per hour.

**Charging mechanics**

After a race, roaches run out of energy and need to be charged:

* Charging costs 50 MTGN
* If a player doesn't have enough MTGN, they can earn it by completing Missions, inviting friends, or buying it with TRAX
* Players with multiple roaches can choose which one to charge
* Each roach slot has a generator that produces 50 energy per hour
* A roach needs 100 energy to be fully charged
* With one generator, charging takes 2 hours
* With two generators, charging takes 1 hour
* With three generators, charging takes 40 minutes
* Multiple roaches charging simultaneously share the charging speed
* Players can instantly complete charging for 2 TRAX

**Upgrade Roach Energy**

Each roach slot has a generator that produces energy. You can upgrade these generators to increase their energy production rate.

Each upgrade increases the generator's output by 2 energy/hour. Each subsequent upgrade costs 30% more than the previous one.

| **Level** | **Energy/Hour** | **Cost (MTGN)** |
| --------- | --------------- | --------------- |
| 1         | 50              | -               |
| 2         | 52              | 25              |
| 3         | 54              | 50              |
| 4         | 56              | 50              |
| 5         | 58              | 75              |
| 6         | 60              | 100             |
| 7         | 62              | 125             |
| 8         | 64              | 150             |
| 9         | 66              | 200             |
| 10        | 68              | 275             |

**Battery upgrades**

Increase roach energy capacity and compression.

You can upgrade the battery capacity of your roaches to increase their total energy and energy compression.

Each upgrade increases the battery capacity by 5 energy. Each subsequent upgrade costs 60% more than the previous one.

| **Level** | **Battery Capacity** | **Cost (MTGN)** |
| --------- | -------------------- | --------------- |
| 1         | 100                  | -               |
| 2         | 105                  | 100             |
| 3         | 110                  | 200             |
| 4         | 115                  | 300             |
| 5         | 120                  | 400             |
| 6         | 125                  | 700             |
| 7         | 130                  | 1,000           |
| 8         | 135                  | 1,700           |
| 9         | 140                  | 2,700           |
| 10        | 145                  | 4,300           |

**Energy Compression**

To ensure that increasing battery capacity doesn't lead to more rounds in a race, the game uses energy compression. At level 1, compression is 20 (100 energy/5 rounds). At higher levels, compression increases, giving players larger rewards for winning rounds.\
\
Example: Taking 1st place with 10 participants gives a 6x multiplier. With level 1 compression (20), the reward is 6 × 20 = 120 MTGN. With level 6 compression (25), the reward is 6 × 25 = 150 MTGN.

# NFT Reactor and Cell System

Reactors and Cells are a core part of the XPR progression system in Roach Racing Club. They allow players to unlock additional XPR rewards, boost progression, and access expanded earning mechanics.

Read more about XPR [here](/gameplay/xpr-reward-system).\
\
**Reactor**

The Reactor is a special NFT Device that can be obtained through Missions or purchased in the Shop. Each Reactor contains 4 activation slots, and every slot can be filled once using a Cell.

When activated, a Reactor provides significant gameplay and progression benefits:

* Unlocks XPR in Arcade mode (your first 3 Arcade races every day give boosted XPR rewards):

1 Run: Equals 5 rounds.

Daily Limits: First 3 runs → full XPR. Subsequent runs → 5% of normal. Players race together but XPR is awarded individually based on their battery.

Each player receives their own XPR pool depending on their battery tier.

* Enhances Daily Rewards and enables daily XPR earnings
* Unlocks partner rewards
* Has future ecosystem utility tied to upcoming phases

**Important rules:**

* Reactor cannot be transferred
* You can own only 1 reactor
* No time limit between activations

**Reactor Evolution:**

The Reactor evolves after all 4 slots are filled.\
Its final form depends entirely on the tiers of Cells used during activation.\
Higher-tier Cells → stronger evolved Reactor.

***

**Cells**

Cells are in-game NFT consumables used to activate the Reactor.\
They can be obtained from Missions or purchased in the Shop.

Each Cell:

* has its own power tier
* determines the amount of instant XPR you receive
* defines the strength of your daily and Arcade rewards
* activates the Reactor for 7 days
* is burned after use
